OVERVIEW
A TM LUNA (formerly TM3) stands on the floor or hangs on the wall, in black, chrome or gold, or a combination thereof. Or it causes a sensation by its striking combination of completely new color and shape.
The TM LUNA bestows timeless beauty and elegance on every room. As the smallest of Schlumpf’s Time Machines it is available as a free-standing or wall model and it features an open mechanical clockwork. Thanks to the patented anchor technology with its finely sprung anchor arms, an extremely soft gait is created, which is achieved with a small amount of energy previously unattainable. The so-called anchor pallets, steel parts that are rigid in a conventional watch, are made of the finest spring steel, which store the tension that occurs when the anchor wheel pin impacts and then releases it directly to the pendulum at the next cycle.
The series “Johann” and “Ana” are currently available. The Series “OSHKOSH” is a Limited Edition offering a shiny chrome look, as its role model P-51 “Mustang” already did 80 years ago. And last but not least, the “Palm Springs” completes the portfolio with its striking color concept.

THE CREATOR
Florian’s career path began when he graduated from Lucerne’s art school
in 1980 as a sculptor. After travelling the world for two years on a self-made motorcycle, he decided to further his education in the field of mechanics and attended Zentralschweizer Technikum in Lucerne, earning a diploma in mechanical engineering in 1988.
«Every innovative product I developed in my life arose from a problem for which no solution existed», Schlumpf explains. One innovation was derived from a personal experience. «When I climbed a steep mountain pass with my old bicycle and was forced to dismount because there were no gears low enough for pedalling all the way, I suddenly had the idea for the «mountain drive» bottom-bracket gearing system.
Ten years later, Schlumpf developed a hub for unicycles, which is in use by the world’s top unicyclists in races to reach speeds of 40 km/h and more, as well as unicycles for daily commuting. In 2011, the patents and production rights of the bicycle gearing system were acquired by a German group, opening the door to new opportunities for Schlumpf to ex- explore new fields of interest in clocks and precision mechanisms. The first Time Machine, the TM1, was introduced at BaselWorld in 2014 as a purely artistic experience with no indication for time.

Schlumpf Tooth Profile
Based on a Wildhaber-Novikov tooth profile, Schlumpf uses self-lubricating bronze bushings on hardened and high-polished pins. This reduces friction to the absolute minimum and completes the technical perfection.
Clockwork Drive
The Time Machine runs on the energy contained in two spiral spring housings, that provide up to seven days of runtime. The springs are connected in series, so winding one gives power to both springs. The housings are geared on their outer side, one with a standard tooth shape, the other with bronze bushing on hardened steel pins, allowing a frictionless operation.
Spring loaded anchor pallets
The Schlumpf principle of the spring-loaded anchor pallets is used on the small TM3, providing very smooth and nearly silent operation. On a standard escapement, all the kinetic energy of the wheelwork is lost, when the anchor pin hits the anchor pallet. With our special anchor pallets, the energy is stored in the spring steel material of the pin, and the energy flows directly into the swing of the pendulum at the next cycle.
